Our Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
My clinical practice is rooted in a person-centered framework that prioritizes the dignity, autonomy, and unique voice of every individual I serve. I believe that effective Applied Behavior Analysis is not about forcing compliance; rather, it is a collaborative partnership aimed at enhancing an individual’s quality of life and expanding their independence.
In practice, this means:
Prioritizing Assent and Agency
I actively monitor and respect both vocal and non-vocal assent. Therapeutics should happen with a client, not to them. If a client is demonstrating distress or withdrawal, I view it as vital feedback to modify the environment or approach, rather than a behavior to be overridden.
Socially Significant Goal Selection
Goals must be chosen based on their direct benefit to the individual’s independence and happiness, not just for the convenience of the environment. I emphasize functional communication, self-advocacy, and emotional regulation skills.
Strengths-Based Programming
I design interventions that build upon an individual’s existing strengths, preferences, and unique learning style.
Collaborative & Compassionate Care
I view caregivers and the client as central members of the multidisciplinary team. By aligning behavioral programming with the family’s cultural values and daily realities, we create sustainable, meaningful outcomes that extend far beyond the clinical setting.
Ultimately, my goal as a practitioner is to utilize the science of ABA compassionately and ethically, ensuring that our interventions empower individuals to live full, self-determined lives.
